GOUMENISSA RED

Protected Destination of Origin GOUMENISSA (P.D.O.)

Composition of the varieties: Xinomavro 70%, Negoska 30%

Vineyard: Linear layout in Fyliria, Goumenissa

Soil: Medium-textured clayey-sandy.

Winemaking: Pre-fermentation cold maceration for two days, alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature, with the wine remaining together with the lees for eight months with periodic stirring.

Maturation: 12 months in French oak barrels, 6 months in bottles.

Organoleptic features: The wine is of an intense red color with hints of garnet.  The aroma is complex with predominating scent of small red fruits such as blackberry, cherry, supplemented with fragrance of spice, tomato, olive and vanilla. It is full-bodied to the palate, aromatic, rich in tannins and with a lingering aftertaste. It is to be drunk at a temperature of 16-18οC and accompanies red and white grilled or cooked meats with sauces, pasta and yellow cheese.

Composition of the varieties:  Xinomavro 60%, Cabernet sauvignon 40%

Vineyard: Linear layout in area of Bidabla Goumenissa.

Soil: Light-textured clayey-sandy at Bidabla.

Winemaking: Pre-fermentation cold maceration for two days, alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature, with the wine remaining with the lees for eight months with periodic stirring.

MOSAIC RED

Composition of the varieties:  25% Xinomavro, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Negoska, 25% Merlot

Vineyard: Linear layout in area of Bidabla Goumenissa.

Soil:

Winemaking: Pre-fermentation cold maceration for two days, alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature, with the wine remaining with the lees for 3 months with periodic stirring.

Organoleptic features: The color is light red with violet hints. It has intense aromas of small red fruits combined with sweet notes of jasmine and white pepper. In the mouth it is light cool, delicious with juicy tannins and soft fruity aftertaste. To be drunk at cool temperature of 120 c

Composition of the varieties: 60% Sauvignon blanc, 40% Assyrtiko

Vineyard:  Linear layout at Bidabla for Sauvignon Blanc, at Filiria for Assyrtiko

Soil: Medium-textured clayey-sandy at Bidabla, Medium-textured clayey-sandy at Filiria

Winemaking: Pre-fermentation cold maceration for six hours, alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature, with the wine remaining with the lees for three months with periodic stirring.

Organoleptic features: It has aromas of lime, tropical fruits, white-fleshed fruits and wild roses. Slightly structured in the mouth, with sharp acidity and long aftertaste. Serve at 12⁰C and combine with seafood, white meat and pasta.

Story behind the name: Vaggeli! Are you listening to me? asked a friend cheerfully at a large dinner table we had for the bottling of our first white wine in 1985 in Goumenissa. Celebrating the winery’s 10th year anniversary comes this unique wine, which consists mostly of Sauvignon Blanc and Assyrtiko, and marries evolution and history.

Composition of the varieties: 100% Assyrtiko

Vineyard:  Linear layout at Filyria.

Soil: Medium-textured clayey-sandy.

Winemaking: Pre-fermentation cold maceration for one day, alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature, with the wine remaining with the lees for two months with periodic stirring.

Maturation: 3 months in French old oak barrels.

Organoleptic features: The wine has a slightly yellow color with golden hints. It has flavors of citrus, white-fleshed fruits and small white flowers and is able to withstand time, giving even more advanced features. It is full-bodied to the palate, with fresh acidity, and long aromatic aftertaste.

Composition of the varieties: 45% Roditis, 45% Sauvignon Blanc, 10% Xinomavro

Vineyard: Linear layout in the area of Bidabla, Goumenissa.

Soil: Light – textured clayey-sandy at Bidabla

Winemaking:  Pre-fermentation cold maceration for Roditis and Sauvignon Blanc and direct delivery of the must for Xinomavro, alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature, with the wine remaining with the lees for three months with periodic stirring.

Organoleptic features: The color is slightly yellow with green hints. The complex aroma is fruity with citrus notes. In the mouth it is light, cool, with soft fruity aftertaste. To be drunk at cool temperature of 10-12⁰C

CHLOE ROSE

Protected Geographical Indication Slopes of PAIKO (P.G.I.)

Composition of the varieties: 50% Xinomavro and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon

Vineyard:  Linear layout at Bidabla, Goumenissa. 

Soil: Light-textured clayey-sandy

Winemaking: The grapes remain for some hours with the must, until we have the desired color. The alcoholic fermentation is performed at controlled low temperature. The wine remains with the lees for 3 months.

 Organoleptic features: The wine is of a rosy color, and hides an explosive nose which combines fragrances of wild strawberry, cherry and blueberry, with elegant hints of herbs. The perfectly balanced rich mouth, impresses with its refreshing and crisp acidity, which leaves a long and pleasant aftertaste. Enjoy it cool at a temperature of 8-100C.
